This page explains the storage technologies used by iMeter Reader (mobile app and website
https://imeterreader.app). It satisfies the information requirements under § 25 TDDDG (German Telecommunications and Digital Services Data Protection Act, formerly TTDSG) and, supplementarily, § 25 DDG in conjunction with Art. 6 GDPR.
§1 Overview
iMeter Reader uses no advertising or tracking cookies. Only strictly necessary storage technologies are used — those indispensable for operating the app and website.
§2 Storage technologies in use
| Name | Purpose | Storage location | Lifetime | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Auth Token (Access Token) | Maintain OAuth2 session; authenticate against the backend | OS Keystore (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) | 15 minutes (auto-renewed) | § 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG |
| Auth Token (Refresh Token) | Session renewal without re-login | OS Keystore (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) | 30 days | § 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG |
| Device UUID | Map device to push token for push notifications | OS Keystore | Until account deletion | § 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG + Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR |
| Language & Theme | Store UI preferences (language, colour scheme) | localStorage (web) / App Preferences (mobile) | Persistent until manual reset | § 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG |
| CHECK24 Widget Cookies | Tariff comparison in the embedded CHECK24 frame (only after explicit consent) | iframe (third-party domain) | Session | § 25(1) TDDDG (consent required) |
| Sentry Crash Tracking | Error diagnosis and crash reports; no persistent cookies, purely event-based | No persistent cookies; data sent as transient HTTPS requests | n/a | Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR + opt-in consent |
Note: § 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG permits the use of technically necessary storage technologies without consent where their sole purpose is to carry out a communication explicitly requested by the user or to provide a service explicitly requested by the user.
§3 Third parties
CHECK24 Vergleichsportal GmbH
CHECK24 cookies are set only after an explicit click on the tariff comparison widget. No CHECK24 cookies are loaded until activation. After activation, CHECK24's privacy notice applies.
Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.)
Sentry stores no persistent cookies on your device. Crash and diagnostic data are transmitted event-by-event as encrypted HTTPS requests. Processing is on the basis of legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) together with optional consent. Further information: https://sentry.io/privacy/.
§4 How to delete storage
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → iMeter Reader → "Delete local data", or uninstall the app entirely.
Android: Settings → Apps → iMeter Reader → Storage → "Clear data", or uninstall the app entirely.
Web browser:
Browser settings → Privacy → Clear site data → imeterreader.app. Alternatively: Developer Tools (F12) → Application → Storage → Clear Site Data.
Note: Deleting auth tokens will log you out of the app. Deleting UI preferences resets language and theme to defaults.
§5 Changes
This page is updated whenever the storage technologies in use change. Material changes that require fresh consent will be announced in-app. The version number and date at the top of this page indicate the current state.
