This page explains how to delete your iMeter Reader account and all associated data, what is permanently erased, and what limited records we must keep for legal compliance.
How to delete your account
You have two ways to request account deletion.
Method 1 — Delete directly in the app
- Open the app and tap the menu icon.
- Tap your profile name or picture to open the Profile page.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Enter your account email address to confirm your identity.
- Type DELETE (in capital letters) and confirm.
Your account is immediately deactivated. All your data will be permanently erased within 30 days (see Timing below).
Method 2 — Email request (if you no longer have the app)
Send an email from your registered account email address to:
Ask us to delete your account. We verify your identity by matching the sender address to your registered email and sending a one-time confirmation request. We will not ask for extra personal information beyond what is needed to identify your account.
What is deleted
Once your account is deleted, the following data is permanently and irreversibly erased from our servers:
- All meter readings and usage history
- All energy contracts (provider, customer number, tariff, notes)
- All reminders and notification settings
- All app settings and preferences
- Your profile (name, email, address)
- Device links and sync records
- Your account itself (including Keycloak identity)
Data stored only on your device (local SQLite database) is also wiped before the server call is made, provided you use the in-app deletion flow.
What we keep — and why
After deletion, we retain only the following limited records as required by law:

Timing {#timing}
- Grace period: After you confirm deletion, your account is deactivated immediately. You cannot sign in again during this window.
- Hard deletion: All data listed above is permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Response time: We respond to email deletion requests within 30 days (GDPR Art. 12(3)).
